Our 2 Astrolabes, dated from the early 1600's were discovered near Channel-Port aux Basques. They are both in mint condition and in working order. A very rare and valuable find for Newfoundland and all of Canada.

OFFICE CLERK


The Town of Channel - Port aux Basques is presently accepting applications for the position of Office Clerk. The successful applicant will perform the following duties:

▸ provide clerical administrative support;
▸ perform the normal day to day accounting and office duties required in the operation of municipal administration;
▸ be involved with, but not limited to, budget preparation; application process relating to Municipal Capital Works and Gas Tax Funding Programs; asset management; Occupational Health & Safety and Workers Compensation requirements; and liaise with various government departments.

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

▸ A post secondary diploma in business or office administration (or an equivalent program) . Knowledge and experience in an office environment would be a definite asset. Preference will be given to applicants with the most suitable combination of qualifications and experience;
▸ strong computer skills including the ability to do spreadsheets and word processing;
▸ knowledge of Simply Accounting;
▸ possess strong written and oral communication skills in addition to the ability to carry out verbal and written instructions accurately and efficiently;
▸ possess good organizational skills and have the ability to multi task;
▸ have the ability to work with little supervision;
▸ be able to work in an individual and/or team setting;
▸ be able to work in a very demanding environment.

This is a unionized full time position with a 35 hour work week; benefits and salary in accordance with the Collective Agreement with NAPE Local 1805. The successful candidate will be required to provide a recent Certificate of Conduct and a Medical Certificate. Successful candidate must be bondable.
