The Port aux Basques Community Employment Corporation (CEC) was incorporated in 1987 for the purpose of supporting persons with barriers to employment, utilizing The Supported Employment Program. We seek, create and maintain educational and employment opportunities for persons who are considered to be employment disadvantaged. The CEC team provides professional support, training and employment services for adults with barriers to employment in the Port aux Basques and surrounding areas.

Each position is for 8 weeks @35 hours @$13.20

Students must be graduating from level III or have attended a post-secondary institution as a full time student. Applicants must provide evidence of eligibility to attend a post-secondary institution in the fall.

Day Time Lifeguard
Summary: Ensure the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.
>Be a confident Swimmer
>Willing to take the necessary courses
>Certificate of Conduct with Vulnerable Sector Check
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility: acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of an emergency.
2. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.
3. Presents a professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.
4. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.
5. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
>Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situation
>Willingness to learn
>Skill in the application of lifeguarding surveillance and rescue techniques
>Ability to follow routine verbal and written instructions
>Knowledge of customer service standards and procedures
