SUPERINTENDENT OF PUBLIC WORKS

The Town of Channel – Port Aux Basques is seeking a qualified individual to fill the
position of Superintendent of Public Works.

As part of the Town’s management team, under the general direction of the Town
Manager, the Superintendent of Public Works supervises all Public Works employees
and manages the day-to-day operations and maintenance of municipal infrastructure,
such as water, sanitary sewer, storm sewer and storm water drainage, roads, snow
clearing/snow removal, buildings and other Town properties.

Qualifications

Completion of a Civil Engineering Technology or related discipline is required.
Additional educational certificates, courses or training in areas of construction,
public utilities, or employee relations would be an asset.

5–10 years of experience in a municipal or construction environment, including
3-5 years of supervisory experience. A combination of education and
experience may be considered.

A valid Class 5 License, also, Class 3 and/or Class 8 licenses would be an asset

Knowledge in the operation and maintenance of municipal infrastructure, heavy
equipment, trucks, and additional equipment utilized in a public works operation
is required.

POSITION: Lifeguard
DEPARTMENT: Recreation – Town of Channel-Port aux Basques
STATUS OF POSITION: Full Time

The Town of Channel-Port aux Basques is seeking an individual who can work independently and as a team member to join our recreation enthusiasts. If you are outgoing, friendly and love adventure and being around people, this position is for you.

Position Summary
Lifeguards are responsible for supervising all water activities at the Bruce Arena. They ensure guest are safe at all times and provide a positive guest experience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Open and close facility
Clean/tidy and maintain the pool and surrounding area.
Ensure safety of all guests through proper supervision
Attempt to prevent any incidents by working within the scope of your training and duties
Be prepared to deal with any emergencies (first aid or otherwise)
Meet and greet all the guests, attend as much as possible to their needs
Be alert at all times

Qualifications:
Training provided
CPR and First Aid certificate an asset
NLS – Waterfront Certification an asset
Be able to work weekdays, weekends, and holidays
Be able to physically meet the demands of the role
Ability to complete reports, daily logs/ equipment inspections(training available)Responsible for safety, assisting in maintenance and delivering customer service

Salary: Based on qualifications and training required: Starting $14
